reLiviate Natural Digestive Enzymes has a unique formulation of all-natural ingredients which can supply enzymes to your digestive system which may be missing in your current diet, but which are important for effective digestion. reLiviate is designed to ensure your body absorbs and utilizes the maximum amount of nutrients that can be obtained from the foods eat.
While there is no guarantee that any nutritional product will eliminate an intestinal problem or cure an existing one, prevention is the key to avoiding many of these common digestive problems.
One of the most common causes of these problems is due to the lack of adequate digestive enzymes being present when food needs to be broken down. The entire digestive process works efficiently because of the these enzymes. It doesn’t matter what we eat—proteins, fats or carbohydrates—the human body requires enzymes. Enzymes are the key to life—no enzymes, no life.
A challenge we face is that we destroy the digestive enzymes in our food by cooking, baking and microwave above 118 degrees. If we have too few enzymes in the digestive tract, poor digestion can result. Undigested food can become a toxin in the body, and can even clog the walls of the intestines reducing the absorption of nutrients. Proper digestion is key.
This system is responsible for changing the food you eat into a form that will be recognized by the cells and then utilized. Your body cannot actually use steak, eggs, potatoes, salad and bread without processing them through a very extensive process of change.
All the food we eat must be transformed into a liquid form so that it is able to pass through the cell membrane (wall) and then be biochemically changed into energy, numerous chemicals, hormones or tissue building materials. This process of breaking foods down into minute particles that can be absorbed for actual use by the body is called “digestion.”
If the process of digestion does not function efficiently, the body will not receive the nutrients needed to survive in a healthy mode and serious problems can develop.
It may come as a surprise to learn that the digestive process actually begins with your mental attitude! Never begin a meal when you are under tension, watching television, thinking about a financial problem or arguing with a spouse or the foods you are consuming may go undigested for hours forcing your body to work longer hours and at a poor efficiency level.
When the food remains in the stomach for longer periods of time than it should, the result may be poorly digested food, resulting in improperly absorbed nutrients, leading to problems, such as becoming bloated, gas and possibly constipation.
The actual process of breaking the food down begins in the mouth with the activity of the teeth, tongue, cheeks, and specialized glands that produce the enzyme amylase, which assists in the breakdown of carbohydrates.
Remember; there is no single digestive organ, it is a combined effort of many different organs. In the mouth the food begins its demolition process and is also mixed with saliva for easy movement down the esophagus (utilizing muscular actions) and into the stomach.
It is important to chew food thoroughly otherwise the stomach acids and enzymes cannot reach all the food particles and they may escape into the intestines and a loss of nutrients will occur. The importance of chewing food thoroughly cannot be stressed enough and is rarely mentioned when discussing nutrition by most professionals.
After the food reaches the stomach it is then combined with digestive enzymes, hydrochloric acid, pepsin and other digestive factors, which start the digestive process in all seriousness. These digestive juices are vital to the proper breakdown and absorption of the individual nutrients needed by the body.
When food enters your mouth, nerves in your cheek and tongue send a message to your brain, which in turn sends a message to the stomach, stimulates glands and prepares the stomach for food to arrive. Remember; this process is very reactive to negative mental influences and stress.
As the digestive juices go into action and the stomach starts to churn, your food is then broken down into even smaller particles.
With the exception of some water, a few minerals and alcohol, nutrients will not be absorbed from the stomach at this point. The stomach is not the location of absorption of the majority of nutrients that we ingest. It breaks the food down then sends it on its way.
The major portion of nutrient absorption occurs after the food leaves the stomach and passes into the small intestines. Ideally, our nutrients should pass out of the stomach within an hour or two.
However, when we mix high fat and protein foods with fruits and other heavy sugar foods (desserts), this process is upset and the nutrients may remain in the stomach for many hours trying to place the proper enzymes with the right foods so that they will break down efficiently.
Since fruit and other sugars ferment easily, this usually causes gas, bloating, and other digestive discomforts. The digestive process may also be affected by excess fluid intake during a meal, which may tend to cause acid and enzymes to become diluted and lose a percentage of their effectiveness. Drinking water with meals is a “negative nutritional practice.”
When the food reaches the small intestines it is further mixed with secretions from glands located in the intestinal wall. The pancreas, gall bladder and the liver contribute additional digestive juices that allow the body to break down and absorb the needed nutrients.
The small intestines, is the site where final breakdown of proteins and fats occur and absorption will take place. While hydrochloric acid in the stomach began the process for proteins, pancreatic enzymes now take over and are the vital element. Fats are now broken down by bile acids from the liver and together with other enzymes prepare the nutrients for absorption into your bloodstream allowing the cells to utilize the nutrients.
While our digestive system does a very efficient job of breaking down foodstuffs into usable nutrients, it does have its limitations. These limitations are controlled by our digestive enzymes, and may result in foods not being broken down completely to achieve proper metabolism. When this occurs, the undigested portions of the food may spoil in the digestive tract, resulting in a variety of gastrointestinal problems. Taking an enzyme supplement is one way of assuring that all foods will be broken down efficiently.
Your excellent food choices and eating a healthy diet will not be of any benefit to you until your cells actually are able to receive the nutrients. This process is called absorption and takes place inside the walls of the small intestines. Located on the surface of the wall is millions of tiny villa (finger-like projections).
These villa, contain a single layer of specialized cells that come in contact with the liquefied food and absorb the nutrients through their cell membranes. These cells are very selective and are only interested in absorbing the nutrients that are required by cells for storage or instant utilization.
It is here, in the small intestines, that the protein now in the form of minute sub-units called amino acids, carbohydrates (sugars and starches), broken down to simple sugars, and fats along with other nutrients such as vitamins and minerals are transported directly through the cellular walls. The nutrients then enter the bloodstream to be made available to cells in the body.
At this stage the body will recognize the benefits of good digestion, or the problems of poor digestion. A number of factors will determine the availability of nutrients. If there is a shortage of acid in the stomach, proteins were not broken down adequately or the pancreas was unable to supply adequate amounts of specialized enzymes.
Problems can also occur if starches and sugars were not broken down adequately or maybe your liver was still trying to metabolize alcohol from the night before by stealing vitamins and minerals from cells or maybe you were unable to supply the needed bile acids to breakdown the fats.
A final factor may be that you chose the wrong foods and lacked the vitamins, enzymes and minerals needed to assist in all the chemical reactions that need to take place. Any or all of these factors can cause serious problems when it comes to the absorption and the subsequent utilization of needed nutrients.
Optimum health can only be achieved through intelligent nutritional choices. The raw materials you choose will determine the quality of a new cell being born.
According to a recent Gallup survey, nearly 30% of all Americans are taking some kind of antacid on a regular basis. Recently, NBC health correspondent Robert Bazell reported on an amazing research study that was published in one of the world’s most prestigious medical publications, the New England Journal of Medicine. The study, conducted in Sweden, found a strong and unmistakable relationship between cancer of the esophagus (the tube that links the throat to the stomach) and the most common cause of heartburn, known as acid reflux.
What’s more, this Swedish study shows that antacids do not reduce the cancer risk. In fact, they only mask the symptoms. In America alone, 12,000 people die every year from esophageal cancer. And its major early warning sign is heartburn. You see, the digestive process depends on stomach acid to break down the food and prepare it for absorption into the body. However, when the production of a stomach acid is reduced or blocked by an antacid, the digestion process is incomplete.
Since the body is reluctant to pass the food on to the next stage until it’s fully broken down, the tougher, more fibrous parts of the food remain in the digestive system where they clump together and form bezoars. Bezoars are large masses of undigested food that can weigh up to five pounds! Aside from the health threat they pose, they are one reason many people do not have flat stomachs. Even the best diet will be of little use if your digestive system can’t process the food so your body can use it.

Karl, I'm not traditionally into health supplements, but reLiviate is all it's cracked up to be. I'm in my mid 30s, have a sit-down job, and eat pretty healthfully (I think anyway), but reLiviate has had a noticeable positive effect on how my body digests food. One example... overate last night, got heartburn, took two reLiviate... felt better in just minutes. Only have one more and and am here to order more! Great stuff!
